75% of NSW tenants hold back reporting a repair for fear of eviction

According to a new survey from the Tenants’ Union of NSW and Marrickville Legal Centre, three-quarters of NSW renters have not reported a problem with their property to their respective landlord because they fear of being evicted on a ‘no grounds’ basis.

NSWTG apologise for ignoring requests to release funds for home repairs where man died in squalor

NSW Trustee and Guardian (NSWTG) has officially apologised to the family of Steven Colley, a 57-year-old disabled man from Kingscliff, who died in squalid conditions after the NSWTG did not respond to repeated requests to repair the property.

More than 22,000 NSW seniors on the waiting list for home care assistance

Latest statistics show that the number of older Australians who are waiting for the right level of care is continuing to grow with almost 128,000 waiting for a home care package (HCP) that matches their specific needs; 1,000 more than the previous quarter and 23,000 more than December 2017.

Should meth testing properties be mandatory?

With 64 per cent of homes testing positive for drug residue in the past year, the State Government sets to consider mandatory screening on rental properties contaminated with methamphetamine. According to the Real Estate Institute of Australia, the move to test whether properties have been used as drug labs or have residue from meth use, would be a first for Australia.
